Plant of the Month for May - Begonia Semperflorens

Trevena Cross Plant of the Month for May

Each month we’ll bring you the plant that Graham rates number one!

With everything in the running, from the well-known old faithfuls, to brand new plant introductions, to the unexpected forgotten treasures, perhaps deserved of their time in the spotlight – Graham really is spoilt for choice.

After much deliberation, here’s Graham’s Plant of the Month for May...

Begonia Semperflorens

May could have so many plants dedicated to it as 'Plant of the Month' but a real month for thinking about summer bedding and patio colour, we're naming Begonias our Plant of the Month.

Having grown them in abundance in our nursery, we've got plentiful supplies this year, ensuring the shelves will never be empty, and you'll be able to get your hands on them when you choose! All our bedding packs are just £2.75, so why not bring some cracking, reliable colour to your garden this summer with a selection of our home grown favourites!

Varieties include:

Begonia semperflorens Dark Leaf White - produces large, clear white flowers which contrast well against the dark glossy foliage. Resiliant against harsh weather, it's great in beds, borders and containers, in fertile, humus-rich well drained soil in full sun or part shade.

Begonia semperflorens Dark Leaf Mixed - as the 'Dark Leaf White' but with a mixture of beautiful pink, bright rose, scarlet and pure white flowers.

Begonia semperflorens Marsala White - pretty white blooms with bright yellow stamens, against contrasting purple-brown green foliage. Great in beds, borders and containers, in fertile, humus-rich well drained soil in full sun or part shade. Other colours e.g. scarlet red also available.

Above is just a taste... we have a range of other Begonias also available, and highly recommend a visit for the full picture!
