A winter hardy, evergreen holly (height up to 9m/29ft dependent on pruning) with striking variegated, prickly foliage. Its golden yellow, splashed leaves are irregularly margined with a contrasting dark green. Its small white flowers are followed by wonderful bright red berries. Its upright growth habit and dense branches makes it a useful variety for a hedge, in a mixed border or as an impressive single specimen. It should be planted in full sun in a fertile, moist but well drained soil.
Ilex Aquifolium Fructu Luteo
A hardy evergreen conical shaped shrub (height up to 6m/19ft after many years, spread 1-4m/3.3-13ft) with tough mid green leaves throughout the year. In autumn and winter this female variety produces an abundance of yellow berries and needs to be planted near a male for pollination. It should be planted in any reasonably well drained soil in full or light shade.
