A very popular hardy, ornamental black stemmed bamboo. The young shoots start green and then gradually turn black in the sun. It forms a non running clump 6-8m/19-26ft high in good conditions. It should be planted in a sheltered site away from strong winds, in a good fertile, moisture retentive soil. Add plenty of organic matter when planting, and feed and water well in the summer. Available in 5ltr, 10ltr & 15ltr pots.
