A South African evergreen clump forming perennial with tufts of linear basal leaves. In summer it bears loose spikes like panicles of saucer shaped blue flowers. It reaches up to 1m/3.3ft high, with a spread of 45cm/1.5ft It should be grown in full sun in well-drained moderately fertile humus rich soil, and protected from hard frost below -5°C (if mulched well).
