An attractive tidy plant producing 50cm/1.6ft stems of deep burgundy red bracts from autumn and through winter. Ultimate height and spread 1m/3.3ft. This makes it very suitable for container cultivation. It needs a well-drained, low phosphate, acidic compost, and should be mulched with bark or pine needles. We have had experience of this plant surviving -6oC, but it is reported to be able to stand temperatures as low as -10oC.
